NYX Love In Paris

As a big neutral eye fan, when I saw this palette I just had to buy it. A mix of matte and shimmer (well, full on glitter if I'm honest!), I thought it would be quite the crowd pleaser. I've never owned anything from NYX before, so I was curious as to how it would compare to other eyeshadow palettes I own.

The first time I used the NYX Love In Paris palette, I chose to create a look using the middle row, which just has matte shades. I'm definitely more of a shimmer girl, so I was excited to try out more matte shades. Unfortunately I was rather disappointed with the formulation of the eyeshadows, them being chalky not very pigmented. Plus, even with my trusty Lime Crime primer that usually makes your makeup waterproof, they faded really quickly. The shimmer shades though are everything the matte shades should have been - densely pigmented, nicely textured and lasting on the lid. I really enjoyed using them, and 100% believe they save the palette from being a write-off.

My favourite colour in this palette is the bottom right hand shade, which is a deep cocoa brown gleaming with gold sparkles. I like to wear this by itself, packed on in the outer corners of your eyes and slowly faded out towards the inner corners of your eyes.

All in all, this product was definitely a hit and a miss. I wish they had spent more time developing their matte shades, or had just gone for all shimmer shades. Either scenario would have made this palette receive a definite place on the 'cheeky treats you don't need' list. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. However, this hasn't put me off the brand as a whole. Estée from Essie Button raves about their Butter Glosses, so maybe that might be the next product to show up on my blog....

Have you ever tried any NYX products?
